Mother’s Day coincides with the peak of the strawberry season in North Carolina, and we are preparing some fresh and fabulous Mother’s Day specials. In the Bakery we’ll have strawberries three ways… our strawberry cake, a moist sponge cake piled with whipped vanilla cream and fresh strawberries; and our signature cheesecake strawberry tart, a German-style cheesecake in a pastry shell topped with strawberries; and a strawberry eclair. We’re also creating two special petit fours, a lemon mousseline and a strawberry croquant, and our fabulous french macarons, and many other special treats. We will also have some fabulous specials in the Cafe for Mother’s Day Brunch, including: eggs benedict with local grilled asparagus and crabmeat; crêpes filled with mascarpone cream and fresh strawberries; sour cream crumbcake with local strawberries; and our favorite, an Erdbeerbowle – German wine punch with fresh strawberries – by the glass and by the pitcher.
