As it happens most every year, Mother’s Day and Graduation are going to be on the same weekend, which makes it ‘The Weekend’ in May. The best part is, it’s the peak of strawberry season in North Carolina!

In the Bakery we’ll have local strawberry tarts, strawberry rhubarb crostada, strawberry petit fours and more…Check out the Mothers Day Menu to pre-order from the Bakery. Please order by Thursday, May 9th to guarantee availability.

In the Cafe, we will have a Special Menu for our Graduates on Friday and Saturday night, and some fun specials for the weekend brunch… featuring more strawberries, most importantly the Erdbeerbowle!

 

We take pride in having a wine list that highlights many excellent choices from Austria and Germany…for all the obvious reasons. On Tuesdays we feature a selection of specially priced bottles from our wine collection to introduce you to some of the small producers that we love to work with.

When you come on a Tuesday, please ask us about our Drink Excellent Wine specials, and start your week off right!

Can’t finish the bottle? No worries, we can cork it for you to take home.

Spring has sprung, local asparagus is here and with that, it’s SPARGELFEST time at the Gug!

For generations, Germans have celebrated the beginning of the Spring harvest with Spargelfest …to the tune of consuming over 70,000 tons of asparagus.

Currently available Spargelfest dishes…

SPARGEL SALAT + EI      shaved local asparagus salad, mustard greens, local arugula, fox farm poached egg, lemon, olive oil, reggiano + pistachio crisp   (V) (WF)
SPARGEL CREME SUPPE     local asparagus bisque, almond cream, lobster, crème fraîche, chive oil, dill,

Easter is coming – it’s April 21st! We are getting our bunnies in a row . . . rabbit cookies, challah bunnies, carrot cake, and most importantly . . . hot cross buns! Get your hot cross buns in the bakery in Durham and the bake shop in Chapel Hill starting Friday April 12th.
