Spring has sprung, local asparagus is here and with that, it’s SPARGELFEST time at the Gug!
For generations, Germans have celebrated the beginning of the Spring harvest with Spargelfest …to the tune of consuming over 70,000 tons of asparagus.
Currently available Spargelfest dishes…
SPARGEL SALAT + EI shaved local asparagus salad, mustard greens, local arugula, fox farm poached egg, lemon, olive oil, reggiano + pistachio crisp (V) (WF)
SPARGEL CREME SUPPE local asparagus bisque, almond cream, lobster, crème fraîche, chive oil, dill,
fennel, radish, lemon vinaigrette (WF) (VG w/o lobster + crème fraîche)
SPARGEL, SPECK + EI grilled local asparagus, local arugula, sunny up fox farm egg, warm speck vinaigrette (WF)
KICHERERBSEN local asparagus panisse, grilled asparagus, asparagus crisps, sweet pea, vidalia onion + almond cream purée (VG) (WF)

Easter is coming – it’s April 21st! We are getting our bunnies in a row . . . rabbit cookies, challah bunnies, carrot cake, and most importantly . . . hot cross buns! Get your hot cross buns in the bakery in Durham and the bake shop in Chapel Hill starting Friday April 12th.
